日常有不少人常常立场不明，态度暧昧，像坐在墙头上一样，既不往左跳也不往右跳，迟迟不做决定（to delay making a decision）。

对于这种类型的人，汉语中有一个形象的说法骑墙派。

骑墙字面意思是to sit with your legs on either side of the fence，与英文sit on a fence含义相近，都表示优柔寡断，采取观望态度（straddle）。带有贬义色彩。

当争议发生时，骑墙派一般立场中立，两方面都讨好，不想得罪任何一方（support both sides in a disagreement because they do not want to annoy or offend^{1 either side）。}
